Elga S. (Mitzenheim) Ullrich

Elga S. Ullrich, 89, of East Peoria, IL, formerly of Metamora, IL, passed away at 3:25 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

She was born on June 19, 1935, in Steinwiesen, Germany, to Albin and Hilda (Beierkuhnlein) Mitzenheim. She married Francis R. "Frank" Ullrich, Jr. on October 8, 1955 in Chicago, IL. He passed away on January 23, 2024.

Surviving are her children, Andrew (Rhonda) Ullrich of Metamora, IL, Donna (Bobby) Adams of Metamora, IL, William (Laurie) Ullrich of Washburn, IL, and Liz (Eric) Pennington of Morton, IL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and sister, Helma (Klaus) Lindenlaub of Cuxhaven, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Inge Völk.

Elga worked in the painting and packing department at Hallmark Woodworking in Metamora for 18 years. She was a former member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Peoria, St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria, and St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora. She was also a former member of the Lay Carmelite Order, Peoria Chapter. Elga enjoyed knitting and crocheting and blessed so many with her crafts. A heartfelt thank you to Carle Health Hospice and the staff at Snyder Village for their compassionate care for Elga.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church with Monsignor Brian K. Brownsey, Father Eric Bolek, and Father William Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until mass time. Private family burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery.
