Elaine (List) Hicks

Elaine K. Hicks, 78, of Washington, IL, passed away at 10:28 am on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born on September 30, 1946, in Washington, the daughter of Carl and Mildred McGinnis List. She married Richard "Doug" Hicks on December 13, 1969, in Washington Surviving are her husband and two sons Craig (Jamie) Hicks and Brad (Jennifer) Hicks, both of Morton. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Logan, Katelyn, Alec, and Ryder. Also surviving are two sisters, Donna (Glen) Wiegel of Normal, IL, and Neva (Mark) Rynearson of Germantown Hills, IL; one niece, Abigail (Chad) Beckmann. Her parents, one brother, James, and one sister, Gaylene, preceded her in death.

Elaine loved to travel with her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. To relax and share her creativity, she enjoyed crocheting, and she made 400 hand towels for the Mennonite Relief Sale. Elaine was also passionate about singing in church choirs and participating in Shawn Degenhart's GospelFest. The family expresses their gratitude to the caregivers from Helping Hands Home Health and Carle Health Methodist Hospice for their support.

A memorial service will be at 11:30 am on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Cazenovia Mennonite Church in Lowpoint, IL with Pastor Dennis Kennel officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am until her time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name may be given to Cazenovia Mennonite Church. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
