Douglas Stokes Morgan, Sr., 87, of LaSalle, IL, formerly of Colona, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the Illinois Veterans Home at LaSalle.
He was born on December 17, 1938 in Detroit, MI to Elbert and Elizabeth (Locke) Morgan. He met his wife, Karen J. Glidewell, in Cocoa Beach, FL. They married on March 2, 1962 and went on to have three children. Karen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Susan (Jon) Hartman of Fairburn, GA, Brenda Lane of Maquoketa, IA, and Douglas (Sophiny) Morgan, Jr. of Metamora, IL; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Morgan of Cocoa, IL; sister, Ann (Joe) Sherman of Merritt Island, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William “Billy” Morgan and James Morgan, and sister, Nancy Bamford.
He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1956 - 1958. Doug took pride in providing for his family and being a hard worker. He was a skilled mason and factory worker, retiring from Case IH.
Along with being known for his mason work, Doug was best known for being a talker. He could out talk anyone! He loved anything with a motor and wheels and enjoyed Mopar cars. He loved the mountains and his favorite place was Brevard, NC. After retiring he built a cabin in NC and he and Karen spent a lot of their time there with family.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Graveside Service for the burial of ashes will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 9, 2026 in Western Township Cemetery in Orion, IL with Pastor Gary Wright officiating and with military rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, P.O. Box 5072, Peoria, IL 61601 or online at https://www.greaterpeoriahonorflight.org/donate.
