Dorothy M. Turner, 85, of Peoria, passed away at 11:45 pm Friday, November 24, 2023, at her residence. She was born on May 8, 1938, in Peoria. She is the daughter of Dewey and Neva Willis Chaney.

She married Billie F. Reffett in Peoria on December 30, 1956, and he passed away on June 20, 1991.

She later married Elbridge "Ted" Turner on July 8, 2009, and he passed away on November 30, 2015. One son, Kirk D. Reffett, in 2009; six sisters and four brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Crystal (Brian) Trail of East Peoria, eight grandchildren, Billy Riggs, Shelby Riggs, Shawn Rakestraw, Marissa Azbill, Nicholaus Trail, Anna Murphy, Katie Eastham, and Jacob Trail; 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Joyce (Oscar) Johnson Jr. of Peoria.

A woman of faith, Dorothy was an active member of the Second Baptist Church in Peoria.

Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid puzzle solver, always eager to tackle a new challenge. Her love for games was infectious, often bringing family and friends together for a round of friendly competition. Crocheting was another of Dorothy's passions, her nimble fingers creating beautiful pieces cherished by all who received them.

Music was a significant part of Dorothy's life. She was fond of country and gospel music, with Dolly Parton's "God's Coloring Book" one of her favorites. Her voice was a delight to hear, often filling her home with beautiful melodies. Lavender was her favorite color, perfectly reflecting her gentle and calming nature.

Always ready to lend a helping hand, Dorothy was known for her generosity. Whether it was a friend in need or a stranger on the street, she was always willing to help. Her weekly Bingo games and coffee hours were a testament to her friendly nature, bringing joy to her friends and acquaintances.

Dorothy's love for her family was immeasurable. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, her face lighting up joyfully at their antics. Her passion for her church was equally profound, her faith being a cornerstone of her life.

Dorothy Turner was a woman who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her interests and passions were a reflection of her vibrant personality. Her generosity, friendliness, and faith-filled life have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for noon on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Mason-White Funeral Home. Pastor Jacob Chase and Pastor Paul Maitland will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until her time of service. Burial will be at a later date at Pottstown Cemetery in rural Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to assist with expenses. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with the arrangements.
