Dorothy I. Hunt, 87, of Washington, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was born to Henry and Beulah Mazingo on September 27, 1936, in White Oak, TN. Dorothy married her beloved husband, Thomas L. Hunt, on February 9, 1958.

She is survived by her son Gary (Shelly) Hunt, her daughter Cynthia (Jim/deceased) Gibson, three grandsons Ryan (Sonya) Gibson, Kyle (Monica) Gibson, Jared (Genny) Hunt, and one granddaughter Mallory Hunt (fiance Sean Salazar). She is also survived by four great grandsons Nolan, Aiden, Ashton, and Henry and one great granddaughter Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, father, mother, brother, sister, and son-in-law, Jim. Dorothy's love for her family was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She retired from Bergner's in Sheridan Village after supervising multiple departments for many years. Over the years, Dorothy found immense joy in boating, camping, fishing, gardening, baking, shopping, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She made every holiday very special as she loved to cook and have her family and friends around her, radiating her zest for life.

In her later years, she enjoyed road trips with her daughter and son-in-law and the many people she met and spent time with.

Dorothy's family would like to thank Patrician Home, Paisley Manor, and the Transitions Hospice care team for her outstanding care.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private memorial service and her burial of her reamis will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to TAPS in Pekin, IL. The family has entrusted Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with the arrangements.
