Dorothy "Dottie" Goetz, age 87, of Metamora passed away late morning Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Snyder Village in Metamora. Dorothy was born August 15, 1928 the daughter of Paul and Elsie Hunteman Wullenwaber. She married Walter E. Goetz on September 3, 1950 at the Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2005. She is survived by daughters Debra Kocks of Rogers, AR and Barbara (Greg) Mishler of Metamora; son Douglas (Lori) Goetz of St. Paul, MN; grandsons Jason Kocks, of Denver, CO, Ryan Mishler of Las Vegas, NV, and Jon Goetz of St. Paul, MN; granddaughters Jaime (Kyle) Wurmnest of Deer Creek, Anne (Derek) Boemler of Chicago, Berit Goetz of Providence, RI, and Ingrid Goetz of St. Paul, MN; great-granddaughter Taylor Mishler; great-grandson Garrett Wurmnest; and step-sister Dorothy Blakesly of Minier. Dorothy graduated from Minier High School and was employed in Bloomington at Eureka Co. and Sloan Clinic before her marriage to Walter. She was employed by Peoria Roofing and Sheet Metal Co., Inc. in Peoria as a bookkeeper and retired in 1993 as corporate secretary. She was a charter member of the Metamora Women's Club, serving in many capacities and was president of the club twice. She had also been 1st Vice President of the GFWC-IL 17th District Women's Club. She was a member of Christian Union Church in Metamora and a choir member since 1950. She had also served on the church council, church treasurer for four years and served as Shepherding/New Member co-chairman with her husband for 15 years. She formed the first Missions committee of the church after attending URBANA in Champaign, IL. She taught Sunday school and was active in Philathea, a woman's group at church, serving as president at one time. The joys of her life were family and friends. She enjoyed being active in her church and community. Dorothy's interests were playing bridge, traveling, and shopping. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 am at Christian Union Church in Metamora with Pastor Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora.
