WASHINGTON?Donna J. Horning, 67, of Washington, passed away at 8:26 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria. Donna was born on September 9, 1947 in Peoria to Ralph and Virginia (Hanshaw) Absher. She married Thomas J. Horning in Peoria on May 4, 1968. Tom survives. Also surviving is her mother, Virginia Absher of Washington; three daughters, Lisa (Paul) Cookson of Dover, Delaware, Heidi (Paul) Evans of Washington and Elizabeth (Cordi) DiMaio of Tampa, Florida; one brother, Mark Absher of Arlington, Texas and ten grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Cookson, Alex, Matthew, Benjamin, Jack, Lauren and Sam Evans and Sofia and Olivia DiMaio. She was preceded in death by her father. Donna had worked for District 150 in the Adult Education Division for many years. Donna had also worked for WABCO in Peoria for several years. She also had attended Illinois State University after graduation from high school. One of the things that Donna was most proud of was serving as a foster mother to newborn infants through Catholic Social Services for many years. A service to celebrate Donna?s life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Craig Robert Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials for Donna may be directed to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
