Donald L. Smith

WASHINGTON?Donald L. Smith, 80, of Washington, passed away peacefully at his home at 7:35 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Don was born on January 17, 1932 in Cobden, Illinois to Loren J. and Edna H. Williams Smith. He married Janet L. Campbell on April 5, 1953 in Cobden. Janet survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cheri Flynn of Hanna City and Donna (Greg) Cornelius of Bartonville; two sons, Jeff Smith of Louisville, Kentucky and Steven (Tamara) Smith of Bartonville; one sister, Barbara (Waymon) Belcher, Wolf Lake, Illinois; one brother, Leland (Barbara) Smith of Huntsville, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Corey, Brittany, Seth, Lucas, Colten, Klayten, Tarren and Alysen and one great grandson, Brayden Michael. Don retired from Caterpillar where he had worked in plant security at the East Peoria facilities. He was a member of the Plant Guards of Illinois. He was also a veteran having served many years in the Naval Reserve. Don was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria. A celebration of life service for Don will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Newton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded, as was Don?s wishes. Memorials may be made to either his church or Campers on Mission.
