WASHINGTON?Donald E. McCullough, 77, of Washington, died at his home on December 31, 2014. Born in Chicago, Illinois on December 4, 1937 to Albert Reed and Jeanne Maxine (Lamorelle) McCullough. After his fathers death in April 1944, he came to Washington to be raised by his uncle and aunt, Leo John and Elizibeth Cora Kuszmaul. Donald married Arlene F. Callender in June of 1960 and later divorced. They had two children together, William Carroll and Kelly Lynn. He attended school in Washington and was in the WCHS class of 1956 and also was in the Band. Don worked as a postal carrier from 1956 to 1964 and also as a part-time police officer from October 10, 1962 to March 24, 1964. Donald then worked full time for the Police Department. He was promoted to Sergeant on October 10, 1976 and held that position until his retirement on December 4, 2002. Donald was an officer with the Washington Police Department for 40 years. Surviving are his son, William C. (McCullough) and wife Linda (Pratt) Ahrendt of Washington and daughter, Kelly Lynn (McCullough) Ahrendt of Cameron, Texas; grandchildren, Laurie Pratt of Texas, Staley Lilley of Illinois, Jeffery Gann of Illinois, Michelle (Botts) Petty of Texas, Jerimiah Botts of Texas and Dustin Wheeler of Texas and 17 great grandchildren. A service to remember Donald will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Mason-White Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Online condolences to the family may be made at masonfuneralhomes.com
