Donald Dean Knoblauch

Donald D. Knoblauch, 92, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Lowpoint, IL, passed into eternal life on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

He was born on June 15, 1931, in Lowpoint, IL, to Ben and Mary (Meismer) Knoblauch. Don graduated from Lowpoint High School in 1949. He joined the Armed Forces of the United States of America and was honorably discharged on January 5, 1955, as a Radioman First Class, U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Don returned home to work on his family farm.

On February 5, 1955, he married Jayne C. Clark. They spent 65 years in a loving marriage until Jayne passed away on May 29, 2020.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Maxine (Bob) Kern, Carmelia (Dick) Kapraun, and Mary Jane (Richard) DuBois, and three brothers, Gerald (Barbara) Knoblauch, Roger Knoblauch, and Bertin (Rosie) Knoblauch. He was also preceded in death by eight children, Karl, Myra, Ruth, Roger, Bennett, Victor, Clare, and Brian. He is survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Don was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post #89, the Peoria Cursillo in Christianity Community, and actively helped care for the Grotto at St. Elizabeth Church in Washburn, IL. He loved playing cards with his nieces and grandchildren, gardening, listening to music, and gathering with family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 am with visitation to follow until time of his mass, also on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora.
