Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Don was born on August 15, 1916 in Washington to Wendell and Eva Ruth Frank. He married Betty Brunnenmeyer in Washington on October 5, 1941. Betty passed away on March 7, 2002 in Peoria. Among those surviving are two grandsons, Troy (Angela) Frank of Washington and Todd Frank,of East Peoria; a granddaughter, Jessica Frank and two great grandsons, Kolton Johnston and Jace Weyer, who meant the world to him. Don was also preceded in death by his two sons, David and Gregory Frank. Don was a retiree from Caterpillar having worked as a forman in the engineering department in East Peoria. Don also had served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and retired as a Colonel from the Army Reserve after 33 1/2 years of service. He had served on the first Washington Police Commission. Don was a lifetime member of Taylor Lodge #98 AF&AM in Washington, past worthy matron of Eastern Star, and Mohammed Temple Shrine of Peoria where he was active in the Dramads. Don had been active in both the Cub and Boy Scouts in Washington and was a life member of the Eagle Scout Association. He also was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob DeBolt officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington where military graveside rites will be accorded by the U.S. Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. Masonic rites will be accorded at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children Hospital in Chicago.
