Dolores S. Rainey, 91, of Bay View Gardens, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Lacon Rehab and Nursing in Lacon, Illinois on November 30, 2023.
Dolores was born September 20, 1932, to Carlton and Mary Alice Case Robinson in Blair, Nebraska. She moved to Peoria, Illinois where she met and married Paul Rainey on September 18, 1954, in East Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death in December of 2019. For over a decade, Dolores worked for Great Central Insurance Company. She and Paul raised two daughters.
Dolores was a long-time, dedicated member of East Peoria Church of Christ. She taught Sunday school for many years. She was a school volunteer at Riverview Grade School, room mother, helped with Brownies and Girl Scouts and taught 4-H classes.
Dolores enjoyed bowling, traveling and fishing. She canned vegetables and fruits from her garden. Jars of these lined her pantry. She loved music, especially country and bluegrass, and played the guitar. She saw many of her musical favorites at the Grand Ole Opry. She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
Dolores entertained family and friends in her home – fish fry's, card games, dinners, all the holidays or anytime. Her fried chicken, banana pudding and pancakes were family favorites. Her coffee was the best.
Dolores was hospitable and kindhearted to all. She was a wonderful woman and example of what a wife, mother and grandmother should be. She loved her family and was beloved by them. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Karla (Daniel) Kiesewetter of Metamora, Illinois and Paula (Jamie) Adams of Metamora, Illinois, five grandchildren, Logan Kiesewetter, Marissa (Brett) Curry, Corbin Adams, Brayden Adams, Nathaniel Adams, three great grandchildren, Asher Kiesewetter, Waylon Adams and Sadie Curry, one brother, Jerald Robinson of Ithaca, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
While there will be no public services, the family will privately celebrate her life. Her family invites you to share your favorite stories and memories of Dolores to honor her memory at www.masonfuneralhomes.com. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
