Dewey L. Middleton, Jr

WASHINGTON?Dewey L. Middleton, Jr., 82, of Washington, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at Washington Christian Village. Dewey was born on March 26, 1932 in Peoria to Dewey and Mary Jane (Uppole) Middleton, Sr. Among those surviving are his two children, Denise Middleton of Washington and Don (Teresa) Middleton of Secor; three sisters, Melba Wells and Geraldine Blender, both of Peoria and Delores Koziol of Texas; one brother, Donald (Nancy) Middleton of Peoria; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Dewey Middleton, III and Danny Middleton; a granddaughter, Joy Middleton and one sister, Leona. Dewey was a proud veteran having served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. Following the military he worked for many years for Hyster Company in Peoria then went on to become a Master Electrician. Dewey was a member of IBEW #34 in Peoria and had also worked for Melton Electric. When Dewey was younger he loved to race stock cars in the Peoria area and was an avid NASCAR fan, attending many races over the years. In accordance with Dewey?s request, cremation rites have been accorded with private graveside services to be held at a later date. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family in arrangements.
