Dennis R. Koch, 71, of Washington passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his residence. Dennis was born on August 16, 1945 in Peoria, the son of the late Merton and Dorothy Janssen Koch. He married M. Elaine Simpson on July 5, 1968 in Decatur, IL. Surviving is his wife, one son Kevin (Julie) Koch of Chillicothe, one daughter Kim Koch of Washington. Also surviving is one grandson Nathan and one granddaughter Shelby along with one brother David (Luanne) Koch of Memphis, MO. He was a 1968 graduate of Bradley University with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering. He later earned his M.S. from Bradley University in Structural Civil Engineering in 1973. Dennis worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 38 years, retiring in 2001 as the Facilities Engineering Supervisor. After his retirement from Caterpillar, he was the owner of Koch Engineering in Washington until 2009. Dennis was a member of Chi Epsilon at Bradley University and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. His lifelong passions were fishing, baseball and family. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11am Friday, September 9, 2016 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor John N. Bates officiating. Visitation will be Thursday Sept 8, 2016 from 5pm until 7pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Further visitation will be one-hour prior to his service at the church. Cremation will follow his funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Stained Glass Restoration Project.
