Dennis Edward Curtin

Dennis Edward Curtin, 70, of Metamora, IL passed away at 3:17 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria. He was born on December 17, 1945 in Peoria, IL to Edward T. and Catherine "Jean" (Hellman) Curtin. Surviving are his children Denise (Scott) Hough of Germantown Hills and Dana (Melissa) Curtin of Metamora; grandchildren Brady and Ally Hough and Travis and Tanner Curtin; sister Samra Neer of Denver, CO; two nieces; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John "Mike" Curtin. Dennis was a 1963 graduate of Washington Community High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving on the USS Cook during the Vietnam War. He was a machinist for Caterpillar retiring after 36 years. He was a Cubs fan and loved motor-cross races, boating, golfing, skiing, and camping. He enjoyed watching his grandkids' sporting events. Dennis was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Bill White officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. Graveside burial of ashes will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 30, 2016 in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria with military rites accorded. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
