Delbert W. Stamper, 90, of Peoria passed away at 12:40pm on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Amy?s County Manor in Pekin. He was born on January 21, 1924 in Girard, IL the son of Harry and Dorothy Jennings Stamper. He married Katherine Bodish on October 5, 1949 in Peoria. Surviving are his wife, two daughters Marsha Stamper of Pekin and Cheryl (Ken) Majors of Chillicothe. Further surviving are 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one brother Russell (Bev) Stamper of Galesburg, IL. His parents, and one son Delbert M. Stamper preceded him in death. Delbert was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran proudly serving his country from 1941 until 1953. He worked for O?Neil Brothers Trucking for 30 years last working as a foreman at the warehouse before retiring in February of 1986. He was a member of Teamster Local 627 in Peoria, Hanna City Sportsman?s Club. He attended The Journey Church in East Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at The Journey Church, 118 Glen Oak St, East Peoria. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Amy?s Country Manor.
