WASHINGTON...David L. Zwetz, 69, of Washington, passed away at 12:18 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. David was born on April 28, 1942 in Granite City, Illinois to Kurt and Ruth Dieffenbach Zwetz. He married Roberta (Bobbie) Hofstetter in East Peoria on July 30, 1966. Bobbie survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sheri (Todd) Wolfmeyer of Liberty, IL., Sharon (Leo) Lang of Chatham, IL. and Shelley (Mark) Jones of Bloomington; one son, David (Jody) Zwetz, II of Morton; two sisters, Barbara Zwetz of Washington and Janet (Mark) Henning of Arlington, TX and eight grandchildren that David adored, Seth, Reed, Hope, Cole, Kayla, Owen, Kurt and Kyle. Dave retired from Caterpillar at the Morton facility in 2000 after 35 years with Caterpillar. He had served in the U.S. Navy during the VietNam era. David enjoyed racing and was a stock car and drag racing enthusiast. He was in the midst of restoring a 1942 Buick. In his spare time he also enjoyed woodworking. He loved spending time with his family and looked forward to attending all activities that his children and grandchildren participated in. A celebration of David?s life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Mason-White Funeral Home at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4:30. Military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Navy. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
