David A. Facker, 60, of Germantown Hills, formerly of West Peoria, passed away and was ushered into Heaven to stand by his Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. He was greeted in Heaven by his mother and father. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; his son Robert (Kassidy) Facker of Germantown Hills; two daughters Angela (Doug) Fandel of Germantown Hills and Jessica (Alex) Etheridge of Split, Croatia; as well as five grandchildren Cooper, Krue, Aubrey, Ryker, and Rhodes. Also surviving is one brother Robert (Kathleen) Facker, Jr. of Eureka and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was born the son of Robert and Bernice (Ghelardini) Facker. David married Kathy Hurd in Peoria, IL and together have had many blessings through 36 years of marriage. He graduated from Peoria High School in 1973. He graduated with an Associates Degree from Illinois Central College in 1975 and earned a Bachelors Degree from Bradley University in 1977. He retired from Caterpillar after 33 years of devoted service. He was an active member and child of God at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Germantown Hills where he helped lead the youth ministry for 15 years. He was actively involved in the Peoria Jaycees where he was awarded a JCI Senatorship and an honorary lifetime membership, The American Red Cross where he served on the board for 5 years, and the Italian-American Society of Peoria, where he served as a six time past President and Scholarship Chairman. He also was a recognized and awarded official for the IHSA Track and Field and Cross Country division. Anyone who knew him has been blessed by his amazing spirit, his compassion for others, his joyous smile, and his love for our Lord. He was a devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, treasured brother, loved uncle and unforgettable friend. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Deacon Rob Heiple officiating with visitation being held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his name to the Italian-American Society of Peoria Scholarship Fund, the American Red Cross or Special Olympics.
