David Evans

David E. Evans, 83, of Washington, IL passed away at 8:14 pm Sunday, December 1, 2024, at his residence with family by his side.

He was born on September 26, 1941, in Peoria the son of Marion and Ethel Spring Evans. He first married Lynne Coulter. In 1982, he met Cheryl Lynn Harshman, and they were married in 1984. Together, they enjoyed an incredible 34 years, fully embracing life and creating lasting memories before her passing in 2017.

Surviving are three sons Scott (Julie) Evans, Craig (Denise) Evans and Tim Evans all of Washington.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, Tyler, Raegan, Quinn, Cameron and Corey, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Dave's career spanned over three decades at the Peoria Journal Star. He retired in 1995 managing the classified ads department.

Beyond his professional life, Dave was an avid enthusiast of the great outdoors and leisure activities. In his younger years, he could often be found with a fishing rod in hand or perfecting his swing on the golf course. As time went on, he exchanged the tranquility of the lake and the greens for the thrill of the open road, riding his Harley trike with the same passion and freedom that characterized his approach to life. Dave's love for playing pool was well-known, a hobby that allowed him to forge lasting friendships and share countless moments of camaraderie. His presence will be deeply missed, but the joy he brought to every endeavor will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate at stjude.org.
