WASHINGTON... Darlene E. Keller-Scholten, 90, of Washington, passed away at 4:15 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Darlene was born on September 14, 1924 in Toluca to John and Anna (Daub) Knoblauch. She married John Keller in St. Louis on August 1, 1946. John died on January 21, 1991. Darlene later married Gerrit Scholten in Washington on June 25, 1997. He also preceded her in death on July 16, 2009. Among those surviving are three sons, Michael (Kathy) Keller of Metamora, Edward (Joyce) Keller of Kernersville, NC and Scott (Carol) Keller of Washington; one step daughter, Donna (Frank) Coppola of Arlington, TX; seven grandchildren, Michael Bruce Keller, Jayne Keller, Sarah McCutcheon, Amanda McCutcheon, Ella Ogborn, Jennifer Keller and Zachary Keller; six step grandchildren, Dawn Kancel, Chad Koedam, Michelle Austin, Steven Wimmer, Sherri Wimmer and Jennifer Wimmer; four great grandchildren, Jonathon, Brianna, Brady and Shelby; seven step great grandchildren, Angila, Paige, Abby, cody, Reese, David and Chris and four step great great grandchildren, Chastity, Donovan, Jayden and Emily. Darlene was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannette McCutcheon, two brothers and two sisters; two step children, Dennis Scholten and Sharen Johnson. Darlene was a 1945 graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing. She spent most of her working years as an RN at Washington Christian Village prior to her retirement in 1986. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington and participated in the Women's Guild at the church. Darlene also belonged to the Izaak Walton League in Woodford County and had done some volunteer work at OSF. A mass to celebrate Darlene's life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Julius Turyatoranwa officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7 p.m. There will also be a visitation prior to the service at the church from 9 to 9:45 on Thursday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens south of Washington. Memorials for Darlene may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Online condolences to the family may be made at masonfuneralhomes.com
