Sloan, Darlene M. (née Fauber), passed away, Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Beloved wife of Loy A. Sloan; dearest mom of Mindy (Robert) Sloan Anderson of Ramona, CA, Becky (Bob) Sloan Byrne of Des Peres, MO, and Jody Sloan of Wildwood, MO; playful "MawMaw" of Madison, Leah, Christopher, Kendall, Austin (Hannah), Spencer, Grant, Heath (Ali), Benjamin and Jacob; adoring great-grandmother of Kai, Koral, Khodi, Nora, Wyatt and Shea; treasured daughter of the late Carl and Bernadine Fauber (née Durst); sister of Kenneth (Sharlene) Fauber of Metamora, IL, and the late Joan (survived by Richard) Garber of Metamora, IL; sister-in-law of Marilyn (the late Steven) Rawls of Heyworth, IL; our dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.
Our wife, mom, and MawMaw was a very special person and a friend to everyone she met. She grew up in a florist and greenhouse, which her parents started, and eventually, she became the owner and operator. She was a proud Metamora Redbird, no matter where she lived. She is known for her sweet, gentle, giving soul, open-door policy for people in pain, and endless willingness to welcome and care for stray animals. She always supported the underdogs, including being a Chicago Cubs fan in a Cardinal family.
Darlene was committed to volunteerism, as demonstrated through her endless work ethic and fearless approach to providing whatever someone else needed … often at her own sacrifice. She shared her natural gifts as a seamstress, gardener, and florist to better the lives of others. Her lifelong passion for music and singing was known by all due to her willingness to break into song at any moment. As members of First United Methodist Church of Peoria, she and her husband, Loy, were vital participants in neighborhood ministries such as Irving Primary School tutoring, Morton Square Soccer Program, and Irving Children's Choir.
Our wife, mom, and MawMaw will always be the #1 protector of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. "No one hurts my kids." Her upbeat, joyful, playful energy inspires us all to see the positive. Her unconditional, unbridled love for her family and limitless love for the Lord will never end.
