Daniel Lykins

July 18, 1944 — February 18, 2021

Daniel Riley Lykins, 76, of Morton, IL, passed away at 6:45 pm on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at The Loft Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center of Eureka. Dan was born July 18, 1944, in Peoria, IL, to Estel and Ila (Terry) Lykins.

Surviving is his daughter, Heather (Matthew) Stewart of Washington, IL: two granddaughters Ryley Stewart and Ella Stewart and three brothers Rick Lykins of Peoria, IL, John (Judy) Lykins of Washington, IL and Pat (Sandy) Lykins of Washington, IL along with three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Coppenbarger.

Dan was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his life. After retiring, he missed the road and took a job at Enterprise Rent-A-Car shuttling cars to different locations. In his early seventies, Dan discovered Karaoke, which became a passion of his. He was known as "Cowboy Dan" or "Boots." He never missed a chance to spend time with his granddaughters. Dan never met a stranger and was always willing to help a friend in need. One of his favorite things to do was getting together with friends and family, reminiscing, and telling stories about the "Good Old Days."

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. To share a memory or send a condolence to his family, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
