Damion A. Linder

Damion A. Linder, age 37, of Metamora, formerly of Kansas City, MO and previously stationed at Fort Bragg, NC died on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 2:18 pm at his residence. He was born on February 24, 1977 in Kansas City, MO to Timmie L. and Debra M. (Schinner) Linder. He married Kala R. Parrish on September 3, 2011 in New Hill, NC. She survives. Also surviving is his children, Taylor McCully and Skylin Linder, both of Kansas City, MO and Dayton Linder and Ava Linder, both at home; one granddaughter, Aaliyah; his parents Timmie Linder and Debra (Steve) Tobin, all of Kansas City, MO, siblings Brad Linder, Lauren Linder, Marissa Linder, all of Kansas City, MO, Angela (Joel) Vissia of Huntington Beach, CA and Mindy (Dennis) Thorne of Morgantown, WV, and grandfather, Alfred Schinner of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by one grandfather and two grandmothers. Damion was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. He served with the 82nd Airborne serving two tours in Iraq in 2006-2007 and 2008-2009. He was formerly a Sheriff Deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff Department in North Carolina and also a part-time police officer with the El Paso, Illinois Police Department. He was a department manager for Lowe?s. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He was also an avid Kansas City Royals baseball fan and Kansas City Chiefs football fan. He was on the first responders team for the Washington tornado last November. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel, Metamora with Reverend Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after services.
