WASHINGTON?Dale C. McCoy, 72, of Washington, passed away at 5:19 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Dale was born on August 3, 1941 in Peoria to Charles C. and Virginia (Cruise) McCoy. His father was killed in World War II, his mother later remarried Charles F. Jackson, who was his second father. Dale married Virginia "Gini" O?Dell in Peoria on May 27, 1967. Gini survives. Also surviving is his mother, Virginia Jackson, of Washington; his son, Daryl "Smudge" McCoy of Washington; four brothers, Dean W. McCoy of Pekin, Charles W. (Cheryl) Jackson and Robert L. (Joanne) Jackson, both of East Peoria and Richard A. (Jennifer) Jackson of Marquette Heights; one sister, Ronda "Kim" Kinder of Morton and a granddaughter, Kelsie McCoy. Dale was preceded in death by his two fathers and one sister, Carolyn "Sue" Redfield. He had worked for WABCO and Komatsu-Dresser in Peoria for over 25 years as a design engineer. Prior to that time, Dale had served in the Illinois National Guard. Dale was very mechanical and when younger enjoyed working on and building drag racing cars and he also had participated in competition pistol shooting events. A memorial service for Dale will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Bauer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either the Illinois Cancer Center or OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home.
