Dale Eugene Erdman, age 84, of Eureka, Illinois passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 8:07 am at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria. He was born on April 26, 1929 in Chenoa, IL to William Christian and Henrietta Louise (Schwager) Erdman. He married Judith Louise Kuerth on June 6, 1959 in Bloomington, IL. She survives. Surviving are three children, Nancy (Patrick) Ryan of Metamora, Douglas (Susan) Erdman of Rossville, IN and Lori (Gary) Hatalla of Manteno, IL; nine grandchildren, Morgan Ryan, Haley Hatalla, Michelle Erdman, Samuel Ryan, Jennifer Erdman, Natalie Hatalla, Audrey and Erin Ryan and Austin Erdman; three brothers, Verne Erdman of Meadows, IL, Myron (Neta) Erdman and Ronnie (Dorothy) Erdman, both of Chenoa, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Dale graduated from Chenoa High School. He was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1949 then was drafted into the Army serving during the Korean War. Early on he farmed and then became an agricultural salesman for A.O. Smith Harvester, Effingham, IL. He was an onsite engineer for Snell Brothers John Deere and Truss Slater Building Company both in Virden, IL. He enjoyed being a lifeguard and taking care of the pool, watching his grandchildren swim and was a Cubs fan. He and his wife were lifelong and faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Girard, IL. He loved the Lord and the example he set for his family is his greatest legacy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Eureka, IL with Pastor Joe Burns officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 4:00 ? 6:00 pm at the church. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 5, 2014 in Chenoa Township Cemetery, Chenoa.
