Dale Eugene Bull

Dale Eugene Bull, 80, of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:12 pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on January 3, 1946, in Mason City, Iowa, to Maurice M. “Peewee” and Shirley (Graney) Bull. He married Barbara A. Baker on December 19, 1967, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara of East Peoria; children, Paul (Jena) Bull of Henderson, NV, Stephanie (Dan) Barb of East Peoria, IL, and Jennifer (Ray) Khairallah of Middleboro, MA; and grandchildren, Colton and Carson Barb and Clara Bull. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mike Bull.

Dale was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He worked in sales and engineering for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 35 years in both Peoria, IL and Australia.

He was the kind of man who could fix almost anything—a true jack of all trades and a handyman extraordinaire. He rarely met a project he couldn't tackle. Whether it was repairing something, building something from scratch, or finding a creative solution to an impossible problem, his hands and his heart were always at work helping others. His talents reached far beyond his own home. Through church mission trips, he used his skills to build, repair, and serve those in need. For him, faith was something to be lived through action, and he saw every mission trip as an opportunity to serve Christ with the gifts he had been given.

His wit was legendary. He had an unmatched ability to command a room with a perfectly timed joke or one-liner that could leave everyone laughing—or groaning with a healthy dose of secondhand embarrassment. He never missed an opportunity to make people smile.

After retiring from Caterpillar, he embraced life with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything else. He spent countless hours on the golf course, enjoying the game, the friendships, and the freedom retirement provided. He appreciated life's simple pleasures—a perfectly cooked prime rib, a glass of red wine, a good book, Twizzlers licorice, and time spent with the people he loved most.

Of all the roles he filled, being "Papa" was his greatest joy. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and nothing made him prouder than watching them grow, cheering them on, and creating memories they will carry with them forever.

He lived life with energy, purpose, and generosity. He worked hard, played hard, and loved even harder. His legacy lives on not only in the things he built, but in the laughter he inspired, the wisdom he shared, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Graveside Service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens with military honors accorded will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Crossroads Global Methodist Church, 1420 North Main Street, Washington, IL 61571. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
