Crystal Marie Wettstein, 28, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 12:05 am on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
She was born on May 8, 1994, in El Paso, TX, to Andrew C. and Cathy C. (Kell) Mathis.
Surviving are her daughter, Cairah Wettstein and son, Colter Wettstein both of Metamora; mother, Cathy (Mike) King of Morton, IL; father, Andrew Mathis of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Desarae Baggs of Pekin, IL and Rachel Mathis of Morton, IL; paternal grandmother, Vicki Kail of Las Vegas, NV; girlfriend, Alyssa Heyl of Peoria, IL; one nephew; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents.
Crystal loved spending time with her two beautiful children. Going to parks, dinner as a family watching their favorite shows were precious times for all. Crystal was a caring and devoted mother.
Crystal enjoyed the outdoors and sharing a love of horses from a young age with her family. Crystal was very musical; playing the guitar and writing her own music. She joined the Peoria Music Community Women's Coop where she made friends and music with others who had the same passion. There she was able to have the freedom to express herself through words and the music.
Crystal had strong connections to the Young Republicans of IL finding another venture she enjoyed.
Crystal was a supply specialist in the U.S. Army Reserves. Being in the military Crystal was an excellent marksman and enjoyed target shooting with friends. She was very proud of her accomplishment of her military career.
Other hobbies she enjoyed were modeling and photography. She enjoyed putting her story down in writing hoping to one day share this with others who may have had the same struggles in life.
Crystal had a big heart for her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend Mike Womer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial of Ashes will be in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka, IL following her service with military rites accorded.
