Colleen Marie (Gaetz) Vonbehren

October 28, 1961 — March 16, 2025

Metamora

Colleen Marie (Gaetz) VonBehren, 63, of Metamora, IL, went home to Jesus on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 8:55 pm at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

She was born on October 28, 1961, in Peoria, IL, to Dale H. "Jack" and Doyne D. (Jones) Gaetz.

Colleen is survived by her mother, Doyne Gaetz of Germantown Hills, IL; her children, Paul (Michelle) Webster and Rachel (Cody) Harmon both of Toulon, IL, Sarah (Greg) DeKeyser of Eureka, IL, Christina (Shane) Ryan of Hubert, NC, and Alexander VonBehren of Peoria, IL; brother, Mike Gaetz of Germantown Hills, IL; and sister, Becky (Chip) Collins of East Peoria, IL. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack, infant son Daniel, and infant brother John.

Colleen graduated from Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, IL in 1978. She married Denny Webster of Toulon, IL in August 1983 and together they had their four children. She later married Danny VonBehren of Peoria, IL in May 2004 and had Alexander.

Colleen worked for many years at Vonachen, Lawless, Trager and Slevin and later worked at Fortner Insurance. She was a wonderful crafter and could make a meal out of anything she found in the fridge and was known for her baked beans, meatloaf, and pumpkin bars. She never knew a stranger and had the most beautiful smile. Colleen's love for her family and unwavering faith is what kept her going these last two years as she battled Parkinson's disease. Even on her worst days, she found things to be thankful for and always told people that she was blessed. She would make a friend wherever she went and was viewed as "the mom" at work and with her children's friends. Colleen was always described as fun, loving, gentle, and kind; everyone wanted to be around her so they could feel her love.

Colleen was so proud of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and took every opportunity possible to brag about their accomplishments. She was a loyal friend and loved with her entire being.

She will be remembered for her infectious smile, giving heart, and outgoing personality.
