WASHINGTON?Clinton O. Britnell, 89, of Washington, passed away at 6:05 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at Washington Christian Village. Clint was born on June 29, 1925 in Coushatta, Louisiana to James and Lillie (Miears) Britnell. He married Mary A. Lowe on November 22, 1951 in Red River Parish, Louisiana. Mary survives. Also surviving are three sons, Clint (Kathy) Britnell of Bloomington, Brian (Marla) Britnell of Washington and Doug Britnell of Elton, Louisiana; two daughters, Gwen (Bryan) Evans and Beth (Genaro) Martinez, both of Washington; one sister, Chloteal Knotts of Ringgold, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Clint was preceded in death by six siblings, Myrtle, Lawrence, Clifton, Wilmer, Hancel and Elton. After graduation from high school, Clint entered the United States Army where he served in the Asia-Pacific Theatre during World War II as part of the military police. Clint was a concrete finisher working for several area construction companies. In 1977 he started "Clint Britnell Commercial Maintenance", which he operated until his retirement in 2012. He was a proud member of Laborers International Union Local # 996. He loved to spend time with his family and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Funeral services for Clint will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Dan Doty officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials for Clint may be directed to either the American Cancer Society or the UnityPoint Methodist Hospice.
