WASHINGTON...Clarence W. Lenover, Sr., 88, of Washington, passed away at 9:57 a.m., Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Clarence was born on August 8, 1924 in Findlay, Illinois to Clarence E. and Juanita (Phillips) Lenover. He married Janie Marie DePue on December 7, 1946 in Pekin. Janie survives. Also surviving are three sons, Clifford (Diana) Lenover and Earl Lenover, both of Washington and Wayne (Catherine) Lenover of Eureka; one sister, Helen Culp of California; 12 grandchildren 30 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three great grandchildren. Clarence was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired law enforcement officer working for the Tazewell County Sherriff?s Department where he had served from 1967 to 1989. Prior to serving Tazewell County Clarence was an officer for the Washington Police Department from 1963 to 1967. Funeral services for Clarence will be on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Randy Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorials for Clarence may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
