WASHINGTON?Clarence H. "Mickey" Brecklin, 81, of Washington, passed away peacefully at his home early on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Mickey was born on January 17, 1933 in Peoria to Otto and Mayme (Laudenkloss) Brecklin. He married Marilyn Streitmatter in Peoria on June 27, 1959. Marilyn passed away on February 2, 1994 in East Peoria. Among those surviving are their three children, John (Sheena) of Wilmington, Thomas (Karen) of Washington and Sharon (Paul) Stoller of Indianapolis; one brother, Richard Brecklin of Peoria; one sister, Donna Hoover of Washington; eleven grandchildren, Brittany, Brigitte, Brady, Bryce, Megan, Ashley, Kyle, Matt, Jackie, Coley and Maggie and one great grandson, Hunter. Mickey was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. For thirty years Mickey worked for Caterpillar in East Peoria prior to his retirement in 1983 as a machinist. Mickey was a proud veteran who had served in Germany for the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. One of the highlights of the last few years was his trip to Washington on one of the Peoria Honor Flights. He was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Washington and also the Knights of Columbus. In Mickey?s spare time he enjoyed following car racing and was an avid Cubs Fan. A funeral mass to celebrate Mickey?s life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with burial following at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington where military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home where there will also be a rosary service at 3:30. Memorials for Mickey may be directed to St. Patrick?s Catholic Church.
