Christopher “CJ” Salm, 38, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on September 30, 2026.

CJ loved working out, riding motorcycles, playing games, and spending time with his family. More than anything, he was a father, son, brother, and uncle who was deeply loved by those around him.

CJ never had much of a filter and never pretended to be someone he wasn’t. He was brutally honest, unapologetically himself, and about as real as a person could be. You always knew exactly where you stood with CJ, and those who knew him will remember his humor, honesty, and one-of-a-kind personality.

CJ is survived by his daughters, Isabella and Kerrigan; his mother, Joy (Mike) Godinez of East Peoria; his father, Galen (Karen) Salm of Peoria; his brother, Cory (Ipek) Bush of Washington; his sisters, Casey Getz of Peoria, Amanda Stuart of Bartonville, and Samantha (Jon) Long of Bartonville; his cousins, Amy and Michelle Blackmore, who held a special place in his life; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Avery Getz; his maternal grandparents, Richard “Dick” and Joyce Getz of Peoria; and his paternal grandparents, John and Linda Salm of Peoria.

CJ will be deeply missed by his daughters, family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege. of knowing the real, unfiltered person that he was.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm, followed by a memorial service at 6 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026, all at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington.
