Charles Steven Robinson, 72, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Steve was born on June 6, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona the son of Charlie and Gloria Dempster Robinson. He married Mona Willman on October 28, 1977, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife, Mona, of Washington; three children, Christopher Robinson, Steven (Angie) Robinson, and Andrew (Carrie) Robinson, all of Washington; and his mother, Gloria Frasco, of Port Charlotte, Florida. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Kaylee, Jackie, Alex, Matthew, Andi, Kendall, and Albee; two brothers, David (Sue) Robinson of England and Scott (Tammy) Robinson of East Peoria; and one sister, Suzann (Scott) Bunton of Punta Gorda, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather Bill, brother Michael, and nephew Eric.

Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict before being honorably discharged. Steve was a mechanic by trade and loved working on anything with an engine—whether it was planes, cars, tractors, boats, or lawnmowers. He was endlessly curious about how things worked and eager to figure out why they might not.

He was incredibly proud of his three sons and what they achieved, but his grandchildren truly brought him a special kind of happiness.

Steve had a wide range of interests that brought him joy. He loved exploring the mysteries of outer space and diving into ancient history. Racing was a passion of his, especially Formula One and sprint car races that he enjoyed sharing with his nephew Ryan and his brother-in-law Scott. He gently cheered for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He found comfort in watching classic westerns, which always brought a smile to his face.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Mason-White Funeral Home, beginning at 10 am. A memorial service will follow at 11 am. Father Matthew Deptula from St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington will officiate. Military honors will be rendered following his memorial service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Community Workshop and Training Center, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
