Charles A. Filson

METAMORA - Charles A. Filson, 73, of Metamora passed away at 2:36pm, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria, IL.

He was born January 10, 1945 in Elmore, IL the son of Paul and Vallah Ingle Filson.  He married Pamela Thompson June 28, 1965.  He later married Michelle "Shelly" Casey on August 28, 2000.

Surviving are his wife of Metamora, three sons Jeff (Nicolle) Filson of Pekin, John (Tina) Filson of Keller, TX and Jake (Heather) Filson of Roanoke; two daughters Lori (Jack) Sturtz of Las Cruces, NM and Melissa (Brian) Birdsell of Portland, TN.  Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren along with two sisters Geraldine (Mike) Schultz of Lewisville, TX and Billie Bohanan of Farmington, IL.  His parents, one grandson Andrew Filson one sister Betty West and one brother Paul D. Filson preceded him in death.

Chuck worked for WABCO, Oak Ridge Sanitary District, Metamora High School and Snyder Village and formerly owned and operated "Small Engine and Mower" in Germantown Hills.  He enjoyed many hobbies in his life especially fishing and tinkering with small engines.  His claim to fame was "Jack of All Trades and Master of None."

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of his Life will be Monday, October 8, 2018 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the SV Center of Snyder Village in Metamora.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Shelly to be used for final expenses.  To share a memory or condolence with his family, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
