Germantown Hills

Charles Albert "Charlie" Cluskey, 87, of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 12:22 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his three sons.

He was born on December 27, 1936, in Brimfield, IL, to Wilbur and Dorothy (Stenger) Cluskey. He married Marie Ellen Fehl on April 30, 1960, in Peoria, IL. She passed away on April 11, 2019.

Surviving are three children, Brian (Janna) Cluskey of Germantown Hills, Bruce (Mary) Cluskey of Lombard, IL, and David (Becky) Cluskey of Lewisville, NC; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Mary Ann Koehler of Edelstein, IL, George (Linda) Cluskey of Brimfield, IL, Carol Jensen of Lena, IL, Fred Cluskey of The Villages, FL, Janet McCaw of Peoria, IL, and Francis Litherland of Germantown Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers-in-law, Norm Koehler, Chris Jensen, and John Litherland.

Charlie was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a carpenter for Sonny Engst and P&W Builders before starting and running his own company, C & S Builders, for 27 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora, Knights of Columbus Lady of Our Sorrows Council #3060, and the Parish Council. Charlie was also a member of the Germantown Hills District #69 School Board and President of the School Board when the new school was built and a board member of the Water District. He coached Little League when his sons were young and never missed one of their games through high school and college. He was a die hard Cubs fan throughout his whole life and followed them religiously. He volunteered at the Illinois Cancer Center and his parish for several years until he no longer could. Charlie loved spending time with his grandkids in whatever activity they were in to, including fishing where he spent the majority of his time baiting hooks and taking fish off the line vs casting a line himself.
