WASHINGTON?Catherine J. Sanders, 84, of Washington, went to join the rest of her family with the Lord at 12:50 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Catherine was born on April 16, 1930 in Crump, Tennessee to Willy and Etta (Reeves) Cierley. She married Shelby C. Sanders in Corinth, Mississippi on December 24, 1948. Shelby died on January 20, 1983 in Peoria. Among those surviving are one son, Phillip (Rose) Sanders of Peoria; one sister, Ava (Harry) Maloney of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son-in-law, Mike Kipling of Metamora; three granddaughters, Lori (Bill) Emery, Kristi Sanders and Stephanie (Jim Burke) Sanders and eight great grandchildren, Brock & Shelby Emery, Trevor Sanders, Madison Burke and Brooke, Selena, James and Kay-Kay. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia Kipling and eleven siblings, Berdyne, Notra, Neva, Alice, Horace, Lucille, Nellie, Mary Thelma, Dorothy, Geraldine and Billie. Catherine had worked for many years as a nurse?s aid at Washington Christian Village. Later she ran the Family House in Peoria for three years, really enjoying helping guests staying there who had family in the hospital. She loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren, then in recent years her great grandchildren. Catherine also loved flowers and going to flower shows and walks. A visitation for Catherine will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Ledbetter Cemetery in Crump, Tennessee on Saturday at 10 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
