Carrie Marie Maynard, 37, of Washington, IL formerly of Peoria & Roanoke, IL passed away unexpectedly at 1:30p.m. Tuesday September 6, 2016 in Washington. She was born November 15, 1978 in Monmouth, IL and later adopted (along with her sister Veronica) by Gerald A. and Rebecca L. Swords Maynard in July of 1982 She was married in Woodford County to Forrest C. Lash on October 13, 2000. Carrie is survived by her parents Jerry & Becky Maynard of Roanoke, her sisters Veronica L. Maynard of Moorhead, Minn. and Natalie M. Maynard of Roanoke and sons Bailey C. Lash of Pekin, IL and Hunter L. Lash of Depue, IL. and nephews Tristan L. & Cameron C. Teason of Moorhead, Minn. Her maternal grandparents David L. & Joan Swords of Lacon, IL, as well as Aunts, Uncles & cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Jacob F. & Marian V. Maynard of Peoria, as well as cousin/mentor/friend Matt M. Downing of Peoria, IL. Carrie attended Holy Family School, Thomas Jefferson Grade, Columbia Middle School, St. Philomena Grade school, Notre Dame High School all of Peoria and Roanoke Benson High School, Roanoke, IL. She completed her GED with high scores in 1998. She was an accomplished soccer player both at her schools & Peoria Park District. She played basketball at St. Phils. Carrie was a talented artist, played violin by ear, rode horseback and loved Hard rock music. She was a loving Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Niece & Cousin. She worked as a teacher's aide at Highwoods Learning Center in Washington, IL, and often helped her Mom (along with her sister) at PARC Early Intervention Program for 0-2yr olds. She also worked her teen years at McDonalds & Dairy Queen of Metamora as well as the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke. Previous to her death she had worked at Subway sandwich shop in Washington and was noted as a great worker and wonderful to her customers. Carrie was a "CHAMPION for the Disabled", a Loving & Loyal friend to all and enjoyed helping people of any age, color, religion or lifestyle. Carrie Loved the outdoors, camping and having a fishing pole in her hand. CARRIE LOVED CATS!! Cremation Rites have been accorded. A time to Celebrate Carrie's Life will take place on Sunday September 11, 2016 at CHRIST FOLLOWERS CHURCH 18603 Springfield Rd. Groveland, IL., from 6-8p.m. All who knew and loved her are welcome. A private internment of her ashes will take place at a later date.
