Carole Ann Proctor Machen, 71, of Metamora, IL passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at home. She was born on July 2, 1943 in Macon, GA the daughter of James Edward and Daloris (Floyd) Proctor. She married Donald R. Machen on September 25, 1976 in Ft. Worth, TX. Surviving are her husband Don Machen; children Jamie (Alex) Pettett, Joel (Sue) Machen, Joshua (Sheryl) Machen, Joanna Machen, and Jonathan Machen; sister Barbara (Royce) Chambers; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelors of Arts and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with Masters of Divinity. Carole taught high school in Warner Robbins, GA, was a youth director at FBC in Perry, GA and in Augusta, GA, was with Youth With A Mission for 2 years, was a youth director in James Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX, a pastor?s wife for 30 years, volunteered with PADS of Lake County with homeless, a founding board member of Heart House in Eureka, IL, led women?s intercessory prayer groups in every church of which she was a part, volunteered at Open Arms and Community Harvest food pantries. She was a member of Oakmora Home Extension. Carole was a prayer warrior and prayed for loved ones and strangers alike. She loved going out to eat and watching sports, especially football. She was a fantastic cook and gifted in hospitality. Jesus Christ was her passion and purpose. She had joy and hope in the face of difficulty and grace for all people. Carole loved people and people loved her. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Church, Morton, IL at 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 8, 2015, with Pastor Craig Dawson officiating with visitation with the family from 4:00 until 4:45 pm at the church.
