Carol E. Grove

METAMORA?Carol E. Grove, 71, of Metamora, passed away at 10:35 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Carol was born on January 24, 1944 in Washington to Roy and Esther (Wind) Mitman. She married Donald L. Grove in Washington on September 10, 1966. Don passed away on December 22, 2011 in Peoria. Among those surviving are her three children, Keith (Marnie) Grove of Washington, Susan Grove of Metamora and Clint Grove of Metamora; one brother, Ralph (Iola) Mitman of Roanoke; one sister, Bonnie (Robert) Scott of Washington; two very special grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine Grove and many nieces and nephews. Carol had worked as a secretary most of her life, starting out at Woodford County Extension Service shortly after high school and later for many years at Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington. She was always available to help do the farm work and assist her, Don with the various chores as well as supporting her children and their activities. In recent years Carol helped fill in as secretary at New Castle Bible Church and was a volunteer for Methodist Hospice. She was a member of New Castle Bible Church and helped in the AWANAS program with the children at the church. For many years Carol also taught Sunday School and helped in many different capacities to serve her church. Carol was a member of the Woodford County Homemakers Extenstion HEA, had been a leader in 4H as well as serving on the 4H committee. Funeral services for Carol will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 at New Castle Bible Church with Pastor Phil Somers and Pastor Dennis Schlappi officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:15 at the church.
