PEORIA-Carl Emmett Moon, born September 27, 1940, in Peoria, IL, passed away July 30, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family.  Carl, son of the late Sam and Florence Moon, graduated from Woodruff High School, served in the U.S. Army, and eventually became a Peoria Fire Fighter, retiring in 2000 after 29 years.

He married Mary Lintz Powers on February 16, 1991. She survives along with six children John (Sarah) Moon, Christine (Alec Kowalewski) Moon, Mike (Karen) Powers, Suzie (Mike Hutt) Sturm, Pat (Kathy Barrett) Powers, Tim Powers, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sandra (Dave) Dean and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Colleen (Mark) Heinz, and brother Ronnie (Darlene) Moon.

Along with his career as a fireman, Carl also worked as an electrician. A lovingly devoted husband and family man, Carl enjoyed spending his time with family and friends fishing on the river or at the beach in Florida and hunting. His gentle yet strong way anchored the people who knew him well.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on August 14, 2021, from 4 pm-8 pm at the Peoria Firefighter's Club, 203 N 4th St, Dunlap, IL.
