Carl R. Kinzer, 68, of Washington passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. He was born to Ernest Junior and Leta Pearl McArthur Kinzer on September 20, 1948. He grew up in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois and married Denise Anne McClure there in 1968. They had two children, Amy (Jay) Steidinger, of Forrest, Illinois and Adam (Beth Wilson) Kinzer, of Normal, Illinois. He has four grandchildren: Caleb, Lindsey, Seth and Ryan Steidinger. He is also survived by brothers Steven (Judy Adams), of Virginia; and Donald (Joan Wagler), of Texas. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Kinzer, on May 29, 1971. Carl served his country during the Vietnam war. He had top security clearance in the Air Force and worked with the Nixon family. He came home and worked most of his life in Agricultural Sales. On September 1, 1989, he married Janet (Hooley) Flessner. They resided for many years in Eureka, Illinois and recently relocated to Washington, Illinois. They attended Community Bible Fellowship in El Paso, Illinois and appreciated so much the support from all their family and friends during Carl's sudden illness. Carl was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Wesley W. Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be used in Carl's name.
