Calvin Lee Isaac

Calvin Lee Isaac, 84, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL to Smith Calvin Isaac and Grace A. Brown. He married Shirley Platt in Peoria, IL on October 26, 1956. Shirley died on May 5, 1993, also preceded in death by his parents and both brothers James Isaac and Bob Cannon.

Surviving is his daughter Dianna Lynn Isaac Miller and husband Tom, with which he made his home in Germantown Hills; grandchildren Marissa (Adam) Kenny, Thomas Miller Jr. and Angie Bencher, Calvin Miller, and Shafer Miller; great-grandchildren Emily, Jack and Will Kenny, and Thomas III and Genevieve Miller; and his dog Kizzy.

Later in life he married Sylvia F. Phoenix on January 21, 1998. She survives along with three sons Bill (Sheila) Farris of Pekin and Ron and Rick Farris both of Alabama.

Calvin was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Haven Hospital Ship. He was a member of IBEW Local #51, working for CILCO (Ameren) for over 30 years before retiring as a gas line locator. Cal loved fishing, camping, flower gardening, St. Louis Cardinals, and Alabama football.

Honoring Cal's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. No visitation will be held. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memory Gardens next to his first true love and soul mate, Shirley, and his mother. Military rites will be accorded. During his final days his rescue dog, Kissy, never left his side. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Foster Pet Outreach, 10206 West DuBois Road, Edwards, IL 61528.
