Bret Philip Wernsman

Bret Philip Wernsman, 52, of Metamora, IL passed away the morning of Thursday, August 9, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center surrounded by family.  He was born on October 24, 1965 in Pekin, IL to Philip J. and Sandra L. (Hardt) Wernsman.  He married Donna R. Kiesewetter on June 15, 1985 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Donna of Metamora; his three daughters Danielle Wernsman of Eureka, IL, Tiffany Wernsman of Normal, IL, and Brittany Wernsman of Nashville, TN; his parents Philip and Sandra Wernsman of Caledonia, IL; his sister Lisa (Frank) Mehlig of Caledonia, IL; his in-laws David (Rhonda) Kiesewetter, Diane (Steven) Smith, Brenda (Todd) Smith, James (Shelley) Kiesewetter, Timothy (Annette) Kiesewetter, and Patrick (Erin) Kiesewetter; and fourteen nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by grandparents Benno and Katherine Wernsman and Norlin and Loretta Hardt, and in-laws Merle and Mary Sharon Kiesewetter.

Bret was an employee of the Village of Germantown Hills for 25 years.  His hobbies included fishing, golfing, bowling, spending time with family and their dogs, going on family vacations, taking long rides in the jeep with his wife, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago Bears.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating.  Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with visitation to follow from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a Memorial Fund in Bret's name.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
