Bobby D. Reid, 87, of Washington, IL passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born on June 3, 1938, in Monette, AR the son of William and Mary Arrington Reid. He married Barbara A Littlefield on July 3, 1958, in Leachville, AR. She passed away on August 5, 2022. He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are his children Brian (Deanna) Reid of Washington, IL; Brenda (Bill) Morris of Valparaiso, IN; Beth Montgomery and Brad Reid both of Sunnyland, IL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Trent (Jamie) Reid, Shannon (Mike) Eagan, Dylan Watkins, Darren Williams, Sydney Reid, Carly (Jon) Roetker, John (Madison) Morris and Kelsey Montgomery along with eight great grandchildren.
He dedicated 40 years to Caterpillar Tractor Company as a skilled inspector, retiring in 1996. Following his retirement from Caterpillar, he embraced various odd jobs, fueled by a spirit of adventure.
In his younger years, he found joy in playing golf and reveled in his passion for hot rods. He shared his enthusiasm for sports by coaching youth baseball in Washington, creating lasting memories with the kids.
Family time was precious to him, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events, where his pride shone brightest. He had a deep love for travel, seeking new experiences and creating cherished stories along the way.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his service also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
