Blake A. Heman, 21, of Peoria, IL, formerly of Metamora, IL passed away at 3:14 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at his residence. He was born on June 14, 1994 in Raleigh, NC to Bruce A. and Renee C. (Lotz) Heman. Surviving are his mother Renee (Thomas) DuBois of Germantown Hills; father Bruce (Deborah LaHood) Heman of Metamora; sisters Keighley (Ryan) Kempf of Peoria and Meghan Heman of Metamora; grandparents Melvin (Alice) Heman of Levasy, MO, Merle (Lucille) Lotz and Louise DuBois all of Metamora; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents. Blake was a graduate of Metamora High School. He was very athletic and loved playing basketball and watching his favorite team, the Carolina Panthers. Blake had an ambition and was in the process of joining the Navy, to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. Blake had a great love for his family and shared a special bond with his two sisters. He was caring, compassionate and very empathetic, which resulted in friendships with all walks of life. Blake is remembered by his infectious smile and had a way of making others laugh and feel important. Life on earth creates obstacles and often many struggles but through it all Blake was able to find his way to Christ who has now set him free. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at Crosspoint Community Church, Eureka with Reverend Jon Watts officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel and also one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. A private family burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Youth for Christ Camp, addressed to NorthBay, 11 Horseshoe Point Lane, North East, Maryland, 21901 where Blake attended camp with Young Life.
