Betty Jean (Heiken) Wettstein, 87, of Metamora, IL died at 11:35 am on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on April 10, 1930 in Eureka, IL to John Cordes and Rachel Elizabeth (Orth) Heiken. She married Donald Henry Wettstein on November 6, 1949 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. He passed away on February 10, 1993. She is survived by one daughter Joyce (Dean) Zobrist of Metamora; four sons Donald L. (Karen) Wettstein of Congerville, IL, Michael K. (Sharon) Wettstein and Kristopher J. (Vickie) Wettstein both of Metamora, and Eric J. (Stacy) Wettstein of River Forest, IL; grandchildren Zachary (Lee) Zobrist, Amanda Zobrist, Samantha (Chris) Reatherford, Sarah Garretson, Thomas (Kristen) Wettstein, Andrew (Stephanie) Wettstein, Stacy (Britt) Kinney, Maggi (Brad Nauman) Wettstein, Jeffery (Kohl) MiWe, Heather (Mitch) Ramsey, Kristen Wettstein, and Cody (Crystal) Wettstein, Julia Wettstein, Henry Wettstein, and Anna Wettstein; great-grandchildren Amelia and Zoey Zobrist, Gabriel Reatherford, Emma and Kathrine Wettstein, Faye, Andrew and Alexander Wettstein, Jenna, Zoe, and Ashlyn Kinney, August Wettstein-Nauman, and Gage and Brynn Ramsey; one brother John Heiken of Metamora, IL; four nieces Judy (Douglas) Gowin, Kimberly (Scott) Gregory, Rebecca (Jim) Sullivan, and Renee (Rick) Slone. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Margaret Havens and Doris Reeser; and great-grandson Jonathan Wettstein. Betty graduated from Washington Community High School, attended ICC and was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company, Carson, Pirie Scott, P.A. Bergner, Gregg Florist, and Washington Fire and Rescue Squad. She was a self-employed caterer and with her husband operated the family farms at Eureka, Toluca and Metamora. Betty was a past president of Toluca Jr. Woman's Club, past 16th District Director of the Illinois Federation of Woman's clubs and Marshall County Homemakers. She is a member of the Woodford County Historical Society, serving as recording secretary for a number of years, and Metamora Organization for Historic Preservation. She was a member of the DARa
