Betty Lou (Thomas) Roso, 85, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Waukesha, WI, passed away peacefully at 5:20 am on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at her residence.
She was born on March 19, 1939, in Havana, IL, to William A. and Julia M. "Mabel" (Yeater) Thomas. She moved to Rhinelander, WI when she was young.
She married Robert T. Ludgatis on November 9, 1957. She later married Albert E. "Al" Roso on September 6, 1988 at the "We've Only Just Begun" Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. Al passed away on July 29, 1991.
Surviving are her children, Deborah (Roger) Schieber of Metamora, IL, Thomas Ludgatis of Loves Park, IL, Sherry (Ron) Vande Hei of Harshaw, WI, Kathy (Dr. Mike Korat) Ludgatis of Sturtevant, WI, and Joy Ludgatis of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) Schieber of Metamora, IL, Andrea (Nathan) Ennis of Washington, IL, and Lisa (Clint) Hall of Metamora, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Kyle, Adelyn, Audrey, and Declan Ennis, Kade and Tinley Schieber, and Taylor, Madison, and Reagan Hall; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and sister-in-law, Delores "Dee" Thomas of Champaign, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father John E. French, sister Leona "Pat" McDermott, brother William "Bill" Thomas, brother-in-law Donald McDermott, nephews Randy Gilman and Brian Gilman, and niece Donna Scharnott.
Betty had worked for Rhinelander Cafe and Claridiage Motor Inn, was a Boy Scouts den mother, and a leader for Brownies and Girls Bluebirds in Rhinelander. After moving to Waukesha, WI in 1970, she worked for Grede Foundries, Waukesha Memorial Hospital Cafe, and retiring from Sun Hardware. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years, with 453 Eagles Club, and CB (Citizens Band Radio) Secretary with the handle "Midnight Angel".
She enjoyed traveling, going up North to the cabin in Adams, WI, golfing, bowling, snowmobiling, football (her team was the Minnesota Vikings), ice skating, roller skating, motorcycling, rides in the farm semi in Metamora, dancing, country music (especially Alan Jackson), cooking, baking, sewing, her grandchildren, getting together with family and friends to party hardy, and her "Betty Boop" collection.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Pastor Paul Seidl from Great Oaks Community Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial of Ashes will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wisconsin.
