Betty L. (Hangartner) Ekiss

Betty L. Ekiss, 94, of Morton, IL, formerly of Metamora, IL, passed away at Apostolic Christian Restmor of Morton, Illinois on Friday, November 26, 2021.

She was born on March 7, 1927 in Roanoke, Illinois, to Joseph J. and Nila G. (Snyder) Hangartner. She married Vincent D. Ekiss on July 31, 1949 in Roanoke. Her husband preceded her in death on December 14, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley Henderson, brothers Jimmy and Jerry Hangartner, one niece, and one nephew.

Surviving are eight nephews and five nieces, plus many great-nephews and great-nieces.

Betty retired in October, 1982 from Caterpillar after 32 years in the Cost Accounting Department. In retirement, Betty and Vin traveled all over the United States and they loved having new experiences. She attended Willow Hill United Methodist Church in East Peoria, Illinois.

"Aunt Betty" as so many knew her, loved her many nieces and nephews. She cherished their calls, visits, and cards. Her hobby was working on all types of crafts and made many items to give to family members and friends. Betty also spent countless hours researching the ancestry of her family and documenting it for her relatives.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora, Illinois with memorial services to follow. A family burial will be held following the memorial service at the Roanoke City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Apostolic Christian Restmor, Inc., 1500 Parkside Avenue, Morton, IL 61550 which has been her residence for the past eleven years.
