Bertram J. "Spud" Rohman age 89 of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 9:17am Sunday April 14, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born Jan. 8, 1924 in Metamora, to Clarence M. and Frances C. (Scheirer) Rohman, he married Rita C. Hill Jan. 9, 1946 at St. Mary?s of the Woods Catholic Church in Princeville. She preceded him in death June 26, 1991. He later married Lois Vegalius Du Bois Dec. 30, 1992. She preceded him in death July 1, 2006. Also preceding him in death are grandson Bradley Koth, two sisters, and one brother. Surviving are two sons, Donald (Sharon) of Sebring, Fla., and Richard (Beth) of Peoria Heights; three daughters, Marian (James) Tompkins of Metamora, Kathryn (Marvin) Hahn of Washington, and Paula (David) Krause of Peoria; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. He was a Private in the Army serving during WWII in Italy as a machine gunner and had received the Purple Heart. He was Co-Owner of C. Rohman & Son Trucking. Later he was a factory accounting clerk at Caterpillar for 30 years retiring in 1991. He was Tax Assessor for the Village of Metamora from 1955 to 1966 and served on the Metamora Park Board from 1979 to 1987. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Lady of Sorrows Council 3060, Metamora American Legion Post #89, worked as a election judge and was a retired member of UAW Local 974 where he had served as a Union Steward. He drove a school bus for Metamora Township High School for many years, as well as a Little League Summer Baseball Coach. Spud was a avid bowler, Cub fan, and Metamora Redbirds Football Fan. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Wednesday April 17, 2013 with Father Don Roszkowski officiating. Rosary will be at 4:30pm Tuesday with visitation to follow from 5pm until 7pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Metamora where Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #89. Memorials may be made to Greater Peoria Honor Flight, P.O.
