WASHINGTON...Bertha Kennedy, 79, of Washington, was granted her angel wings on February 9, 2012. She passed away in her sleep at her home. Bertha was born on February 26, 1932 in Fayetteville, TN to John and Pearl Woods Dye. She married Lynn Kennedy on September 18, 1970 in Palmyra, MO. Lynn survives. Also surviving are two sons, Rick (Shelly) Farmer of East Peoria and Stan Farmer of Freeport, Texas; one brother, Clarence Dye of Gary, IN; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who will always remember her with love. Bertha was preceded in death by one son, Randy Farmer and four brothers. Although she battled ill health during the last few years, her perseverance, strength and ability to overcome incredible odds amazed her family and friends. Her dearest trait was that she wanted to know about everything that was going on in your life. She had a talent of conversation that allowed long entertaining visits. It was always a treat to be invited to her home for dinner. Bertha?s cooking was the best. At one time she owned and operated Sehobe Meat?s in Sunnyland and was on the radio early every morning advertising the business. Funeral services for Bertha will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Jim Gorby officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 7 and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials for Bertha may be directed to Methodist Home Health Care.
